Recently, more than 600 kilograms of Sanya mangoes were flown from Sanya Phoenix International Airport to Xiamen and then transferred to Vancouver, Canada. This was the first Sanya Guifei mango to enter the Canadian market this year. The Guifei mango, ripened on the tree, has always been loved by consumers in China and abroad. In 2021, the price of Guifei mangoes was about 39.69 Canadian dollars/kg in Canada. In addition, Guifei mangoes ripened on the tree are often sold out as soon as they arrive in Canada.
"The Sanya mango has tender flesh, a beautiful shape, and high sweetness. It is very competitive in the market." Shidun Peng, president of the Sanya Mango Association, said that the export volume of Sanya mango is 50 to 60 tons per year and its sales have increased year by year after it was exported to Canada for the first time in 2017.
Currently, Sanya mangoes are exported to 13 countries and regions including Singapore, Russia and Canada, showing the new image of Sanya's agricultural tourism and expanding the influence of tourism in Sanya.
The planting area of Sanya mangoes is more than 400,000 mu (about 161,884 hectares), and the main varieties include Guifei, Ivory, Red-golden dragon, Training, and others. Being the tropical fruit with the largest industry in Sanya, mango is one of the main sources of economic income for farmers in Sanya. The annual output is more than 650,000 tons, and the annual output value is nearly 6 billion yuan. At present, the municipality of Sanya has set up Agricultural Product Circulation Offices in 18 cities such as Changsha, Jiaxing, Shanghai, and Beijing. Sanya Mango has been sold to more than 100 cities in China.
