Peru to be no. 1 global blueberry exporter for third consecutive year

As the shipments of Peruvian blueberries to different global markets are ongoing, Peru is set to be the most important exporter of blueberries in the world for the third consecutive season. Peruvian news agency Agraria.pe reports that Peruvian blueberry shipments reached 112.078 tons at the beginning of October this year. This is an increase of 59% compared to the season prior to the same date, in which they had been exported. 70.399 tons at the beginning of October 2020.

The Peruvian figures are decisive with respect to its closest competitors in the global blueberry industry and consolidate its privileged position with respect to Chile, which until three years ago was the leader in blueberry exports to the world.

If we compare the projection of the Chilean season made by the Chilean Blueberry Committee, which estimates that the export of fresh Chilean blueberries points to a volume of 117.000 tons for the 2021-2022 season, the Peruvian figures rise well above those figures.
