Dutch produce wholesaler begins using Avos

Device scans avocados ripeness within seconds

It is called Avos. This device measures an avocado's ripeness within seconds. It does this with a hammer and infrared photos. So reports Business Insider Nederland. Experience Fruit Quality in Utrecht, the Netherlands, manufactures this device. It scans the avocado. It uses the hammer to measure the pressure under the avocado's skin.

Every year, 125,000 avocados are shipped off to the oil industry. That is because, after a random quality check, they can no longer be sold. The Avos will make that a thing of the past. After a spot check, avocadoes could be found to still be good to sell.
