IMG Citrus, a Florida grower and distributor of fresh oranges, grapefruits, tangerines and lemons, overcame bacteria issues by investing in Miatech’s air-purification technology. Last year, the company invested in Bio Turbo for its Vero Beach facility and shortly thereafter observed improvement in storing conditions.
IMG Citrus says it saw a reduction of citrus mold following the installation of two Bio Turbo 6000 units in its largest cold room.
“After Miatech placed two Bio Turbo 6000 units in our largest cold room, we noticed the reduction of citrus mold,” says Todd Haffield, director of packaging operations. “Bio Turbo helps us to keep the cooler ethylene and bacteria-free, which results in longer shelf life and reduction of produce waste.”
Bio Turbo is patented technology manufactured in the United States by Miatech, based in Clackamas, OR. It cleans the storage atmosphere of ethylene gas and airborne pathogens. When compared to other solutions, Miatech says its technology is affordable and easy to maintain.
