Despite the difficulties generated by the pandemic, Peru and the United States continue to manage the access of new Peruvian agricultural products to the North American market. Peru's National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) and the United States Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) have been holding virtual conferences in June to manage the export of aguaymanto, pitahaya, and pomegranates.
The United States market is an important trading partner for Peru. In 2019 Peru exported 562,418.3 tons of products, including grapes, avocado, blueberry, mandarin, banana, and fresh asparagus, among others, to the US.
In addition, the export of Peruvian products to this market has given small and medium producers from various regions of the country a great alternative to market their products, generate greater profits, and improve their families' quality of life.
