This year's Taiwan pomelo season is coming to an end, while the supply season of other production areas in China has just begun and fruit is being sorted. “Harvest this year began on August 5 and will continue through September 15, the same as before. Affected by the severe tropical storm ‘White Deer’ between August 24 and 28, the quality of this year’s crop is lower compared with previous years,” Mr. Huang from Little Farmer said. “Production remains at the same level as last year, but the production of high-quality products is low.”
“The price of Class A fruit this season is about 15% higher than in previous years. Because of the large volume of Class B products, the price is 15% lower than last year. In the wholesale markets in China, the price of 6 kg of Class A fruit is about 105-110 yuan, and that of Class B fruit is 85-90 yuan. The retail price of gift boxes in supermarkets is about 90 yuan/3 kg."
Pomelo from Taiwan is different from any other varieties from China. “This special variety is sold to the mainland market and enjoys high market popularity. Our products are first shipped to Xiamen and then distributed to other cities in China, such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Chengdu. This year, we have also successfully sold small volumes of products to Singapore, Malaysia, and Canada!"
