Chile: Jingold kiwi's quality is great this season

This season's Chilean kiwi has superior quality. The high temperatures and moderate rainfall there have been this season has allowed the fruit to contain a greater amount of dry matter, which translates into a higher Brix degree and greater sweetness, Chile's Kiwi Committee stated.

This is good news for the Chinese market, where the kiwi's sweetness is its most valued characteristic. According to Harry Xu, the General Manager of Jingold (Shanghai) Fruits and Vegetables Trading Co., Ltd., this season began in May and is expected to last until October. Jingold is recognized as a premium kiwi brand in China and the company aims to use this recognition to ship approximately 1,000 tons of Jintao kiwi from Chile to China this season.

The Jintao variety was developed in the 1990s by the Botanical Garden of Wuhan, one of the leading kiwi research and development institutions in the world. At the beginning of the 2000s, Jingold acquired exclusive rights for the worldwide cultivation and marketing of this famous variety. The Jintao kiwi has a bright yellow flesh, a good balance between sweetness and sourness, an intense tropical flavor, and a high nutritional content.

Jingold currently works with more than 300 orchards worldwide to produce its kiwi, with multiple production zones in Italy, Portugal, Chile, Argentina, and South Africa that guarantee a stable supply of kiwi throughout the year. Driven by the desire to satisfy and even exceed the expectations of its consumers in terms of quality and taste, the company provides technical support to cooperative farmers on how to grow and harvest the best kiwis. In addition, the company implements a complete field-to-consumer traceability system and strict inspection procedures to ensure the safety of its products.
