FruitFirm - the new device to test the firmness of cherries and blueberries

The cherry and blueberry season has almost started in the northern hemisphere and with it comes the need for non-invasive quality checks. TR Turoni, which specializes in devices at the service of fresh produce, will present FruitFirm at the next Macfrut fair in Rimini (8th-10th May 2019): a new non-destructive frontier to measure flesh firmness.

"Visitors can find us in Hall B1, stall 1. We have always attended Macfrut and we will showcase our range of scientific devices for agriculture as well as our tools to check ripening and quality levels in particular. Over the past few years, we have been introducing more and more non-destructive tools to check the ripening and firmness of flesh. Classic examples are the DA-Meter for top and stone fruit, the meters for cherries and tomatoes and the new FruitFirm," explains owner Enrico Turoni.

FruitFirm is a device that easily quantifies firmness in a non destructive way. It measures the deceleration of a small tip hitting the surface of a fruit.

"This device proved excellent with blueberries and will be very popular as there used to be no suitable tool to measure blueberry firmness."

FruitFirm is a portable device to test the firmness of blueberries, cherries, kiwifruits and other products in a non-destructive way. It is robust and easy to use. FruitFirm was developed in New Zealand by Plant & Food Research as a research tool.
