Sales to more than 12 countries

Socomo is Spain's number one horticultural exporter

Socomo, the fruit and vegetable subsidiary of the Carrefour group, has consolidated its position as the leading exporter of Spanish fruit and vegetable products, after selling national fruits and vegetables to more than 12 European, Ibero-American and Asian countries, as reported by the company in a statement.

Specifically, Socomo, which has its headquarters in the municipality of Villanueva de Castellón, in the province of Valencia, purchased more than 400,000 tons of Spanish fruit and vegetables during this period in order to supply them to the retailer's stores in Spain, as well as to other countries where the group is present.

Over the past year, Carrefour has worked with more than 9,000 Spanish companies, mainly in the agro-food sector.

Carrefour is working to offer consumers an omnichannel and multiformat option to adapt to the needs of current consumers and is immersed in the most ambitious digital plan in the sector with the aim of leading the food transition.

One of the chain's hallmarks is its capacity to offer its customers a wide range of products from both large national companies and small and medium-sized firms in each of the regions in which the chain is present.

It is also helping boost the indirect employment of local economies with a business model in which the relationship with local and regional companies is prioritized. This contributes to the generation of employment in local and regional economies.
