The Valle del Cauca is a region that has a recognized agricultural leadership that allows it to be well positioned internationally. It is a strategic destination for foreign investment, thanks to the higher levels of productivity offered by its lands, and large extensions for agriculture.

According to data from Invest Pacific, 19% (112,471 hectares) of all of the Valle del Cauca's agricultural hectares are suitable to grow fruits, which makes it a leader in the national production of grapes (78%), common banana (30%), citrus fruits (25%), lulo (16%), and melon (12%), a variety of tropical fruits that position it as one of the country's main fruit pantries.

The department also stands out in the production of pineapple (18%), papaya (18%), macadamia (16%), passion fruit (7%), Hass avocado (7%) and pitahaya (6%); fruits that have a high potential.

The region's average peach (18 t/ha), coconut (12 t/ha), and macadamia (4 t/ha) yields are the highest in the country, and its average yields in pineapple (59 t/ha) and melon (28 t /ha) rank second nationwide.
