Russia: Prices of high quality carrots on the rise

The increase in trade activity is stimulating the growth of carrot prices on Russian farms, according to APK-Inform: Vegetables and Fruits.

Today, the growers in the main production regions shipping high-quality carrots are receiving 12-18 rubles / kg ($ 0.17-0.26 / kg), which is, on average, 16% more than at the end of last week. However, at the same time, industry experts stress that the trend of rising prices is observed exclusively in the segment of high quality carrots, which are mostly purchased for storage. At the same time, farms selling carrots that are unsuitable for storage are offered 10 rubles / kg ($ 0.14 / kg), and growers are ready to continue making price concessions when selling such carrots.

It is worth noting that, at the moment, the price for quality carrots in Russia is 1.7 times more expensive than a year ago. At the same time, some producers plan to further raise prices, provided that current sales rates are maintained.
