In a statement, Maersk said: “As shared previously, unfortunately Felixstowe terminal is suffering from slow operations caused by IT system issues. In order to protect our service integrity, we will be moving our 2M TA2 and COEX services from Felixstowe to Liverpool for a duration of 12 weeks.”
The line has already omitted Felixstowe calls on an ad hoc basis on some services due to severe delays at the British port over the last month since it installed a new terminal operating system.
The first call on the COEX service at Liverpool will be the Cap Beatrice on 20 July, and the vessels Archimidis on 22 July on the AE2 service.
According to seatrade-maritime.com, Hutchison Ports run Felixstowe said earlier this week that productivity at the port had returned to 80% of the levels before the new IT system went live.
