Reaching 0.75 USD per kg at retail

Turkey: Cucumber prices continue to increase

The price of cucumber rose to 0.75 USD level at retail in Bilecik, Turkey which caused a lot of consumers to complain.

Usually customers buy cucumbers at this time of the year for 0.25 USD per kg but, due to higher prices, they've started to purchase alternative products instead. As a result, these high prices are making both retailers and customers unhappy.

Some retailers claim that for some unexpected reason it has been very difficult for them to find cucumbers in the last 2 weeks which caused these unexpectedly high prices, but they believe that, starting from next week, this situation will change and the prices will quickly return to the usual levels.
