China: Good varieties remain popular in the market

"Sunny Rose Grapes were produced with 4 hybrid varieties in 1988 by Japanese growers and were introduced to China in 2009. Their skins are yellow and green. The grapes don't easily drop. They taste sweet but not greasy, full of fragrant smells of roses. They are also very suitable for transportation. Compared to Jufeng grapes, Sunny Rose Grapes are more easily planted. The fruiting period is long - the ripe ones can still remain on the trees for another 2 to 3 months. In Jiaxing City, Zhejiang, Sunny Rose Grapes will be expected to enter the market in August." Mr. Wang Ronglin, from the Jiaxing Wangjiangjing Ronglin Eco-tourism Estate said. 

"As expected, this year, compared to the previous years, the production volume of grapes in Jiaxing didn't change much. The reasons could be that some of the growers changed the varieties they planted. Basically, all the grapes in the market come from Yunnan. Grapes from Jiaxing will enter the market by the end of May or the beginning of June. How the Jiaxing grapes of this season will perform in the market is still unknown. However, one thing is sure: once they enter the market, Jiaxing grapes would definitely take up a huge market share. They will sell better than the grapes from other cultivation areas.

"Our cultivation base of grapes situates in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang, covering about 50 mu. The names of the main varieties are Sunny Rose and Early Summer. This year, we changed our planting plan according to the market preference. On the basis of original varieties, we did research and planted some new varieties. At the current stage, our Sunny Rose Grapes are mainly sold to the wholesale markets and supermarkets in Jiaxing, Nanjing and Guangzhou.
