Kenya: Central Province official urges residents to embrace Hass avocado farming

The Hass avocado is becoming more and more popular among Kenyans. Residents of Kiamwangi, were delighted to receive avocado seedlings from their Member of County Assembly Rwambati Githongo.

Last Tuesday, the local leader urged the residents to take the seedlings and plant them due to numerous benefits that comes with them. “Please, let us take these ‘Hass’ species of the avocado tree and plant them. The ‘Hass’ tree is disease-resistant and it will benefit our farmers who work in agri-businesses," Githongo said.

"Farmers should take advantage of this rainy season and those parents who own large pieces of land, kindly, allocate our sons and daughters farms so that they can too can plant these trees," he added. He noted that if young people are given land to plant the trees, they can also benefit and even earn a living from the same.
