"Under regular weather conditions, the new production season of asparagus will begin this year in April and finish in June. The production volume of Heze in Shandong will reach around 60 thousand tons, which is an increase of 10% compared to last year. We estimate that frozen asparagus from China has an excellent export prospect in the new production season, considering the limited supply of European frozen asparagus." This is according to Mr. Xu Luqiu, the General Manager of Heze Tianlan Fruit and Vegetable Cooperation.

"Several European countries, such as Germany and Spain, have seen shortages of asparagus 2017. The main reasons for this situation have been limitations in the asparagus growing environment (there are severe limits on the surface area in Europe that is suitable for asparagus plantations) and dry weather which has led a decrease in export volumes."

At the same time, Chinese asparagus production has recently shown an annual increase as a result of the expansion of surface area devoted to asparagus plantations. This perfectly coincides with the asparagus shortage in Europe. Last year, Chinese frozen asparagus already met with more demand than supply. This was particularly true for asparagus export. These conditions will only deepen in the new production season. Frozen asparagus will continue to be a hot item for overseas traders."

"Our company is a modern operation that integrates plantation, production, and sales. Our cooperation has asparagus plantations in Heze, Shandong. We have an annual supply of 3 thousand tons of frozen asparagus. At present, we predominantly export frozen asparagus to European countries through the port of Qingdao."
