China: 'So oranges' will enter market in one month

It's the beginning of the autumn and So Oranges will officially come out in one month. It has been raining much more in the area than in previous years, and it will continue to do so for two more months at most. This means that the oranges will enter the market approximately ten days later than last year. Even though the rain has caused some delay, it has also increased the amount of water in the oranges.

To make sure that the fruit keeps hanging on the branches until it turns ripe, the So Orange farmers pick only the best fruit every time, and leave the rest on the trees. The blossoming of the trees turns the So Orange fields into a unique landscape. Because their oranges stay on the trees longer, consumers can still buy freshly picked oranges in March or April next year.

So Orange guarantees the quality of its production environment by cooperating with field owners, companies and farmers, and creating ecological tourism areas. It is also planning to finish a field of 5,000 hectares (50,000 mu) in 2020, collectively owned by companies and farmers. Simultaneously, So Orange is trying to establish a foundation for the entire industry supply chain by using a more detailed production line. For example, it has shown initiative by implementing new Chilean sorting equipment at its fields in Fengjie. The equipment strictly sorts all oranges that match the criteria to guarantee that weight and quality are identical.

So Orange has established a cold chain distribution center with refrigerated storages in Fengjie. In Shanghai it also has its own circulation storage, and it has collaborative storehouses in other provinces as well. The cold chain distribution can guarantee the fresh taste of the oranges, and makes sure that these taste delicious. At the beginning of November, So Orange's oranges started to sell in the flagship stores on Tmall, Jingdong and Taobao, together with several promotional activities.
