Russian food retailers to import Philippine fruit & veg
The leading company in the Russian food retail market expressed interest in exploring cooperation with Philippine businesses that are ready to bring their fruits and vegetable products to Russia.
According to Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta, the managers of Azbuka Vkusa, a Russian company that has developed a chain of grocery stores that focus on clients which seek premium goods, are keen on introducing Philippine agricultural products to a growing Russian market.
Sorreta personally visited the headquarters of Azbuka Vkusa recently to present a taste of the Philippines’ potential contribution to the Russian market. There he met with Nataliya Voronova, the company’s product manager for fruits, and Anton Berko, lead import manager for fruits and vegetables.
The ambassador briefly discussed with them the potential of high-value Philippine fruits such as mango and papaya as well as various other food products.
Azbuka Vkusa currently has 10 large-scale markets, 22 mini markets, three specialized “shop-in-shops” and an online store.
