Raspberries
“On ourcurrent plantation in Roggel, we're growing Kwanza and Kweli raspberries on 7.5 hectares. The varieties are grown for a specific group ofcustomers. We are very positive about the raspberry season, especially Augustand September, which were good months because of the beautiful weather,” saysNijs.
Blackberries
“We haveseen a fine blackberry season with good stable prices. The production turnedout to be less than other years, and we have not really had a peak inproduction. Now, we have grown blackberries in a greenhouse, which areavailable in the early or late season. This season will continue until thebeginning of November,” he continues.
Redcurrants
“We startedsorting the redcurrants from the cooled storage unit in September. These havebeen harvested during the month of August. We expect that the redcurrants willbe available until April next year. The first few weeks of selling redcurrantsfrom the cooled storage unit went incredibly well, quite a lot has been soldfor this time of the season. The expectations for the rest of the storageseason are really good,” states Nijs.
Blueberries
“Every year we can see that the production ofour own blueberries and that of our growers is increasing. We started theseason on 1 July. This week we are packaging the last kilos and we arefinishing the Dutch season. In general, the sales went very well with somepeaks in September and October. This resulted in a good price for fruit earlyon in the season. As soft fruit specialists, we are very satisfied with thepast season,” concludes Nijs.
