In Germany the strawberry is the queen of the summer fruit. And after apples strawberries are the most popular fruit in Germany.
At the moment the Saxony strawberry season 2016 is in full swing. And the strawberry harvest is reaching its peak. Now is the best time to buy or pick your own high-quality, sun-soaked, sweet strawberries and for a reasonable price. There is a list available from strawberry producers in Saxony.

Strawberries are, in addition to apples and sour cherries, the main fruit cultivated in Saxony. And every inhabitant of the German Saxony eats about 3 kilos of strawberries per year. Over 30 farmers cultivate 20 different varieties on 295 hectares. The best-known variety is 'Elsanta', which occupies more than 40% of the used acreage.
