Venezuala sees return of McDonald's french fries

McDonalds fries have made a return in Venezuela after disappearing from the menu last winter and being replaced with fried yuca (cassava). Potato imports had fallen by 85% in 2014, before McDonald's took fries off the menu.

While fries used to cost the same as any other side, they're now about 20% more expensive than the starchy yuca alternative, almost as much as a basic hamburger. They can only be ordered on their own rather than in a combo.

The returned fries are not the same as the original. Instead, McDonald's is branding them as a "new flavour, specially made in Venezuela."
