Vitacress support for breast cancer support centres
A ‘big cheque’ was presented to The Haven on Friday 29th May at its new centre in Titchfield, which is due to open in August.
Ann Tenison, Marketing and Communications Manager, Vitacress commented “Vitacress is delighted to support this fantastic charity and to be handing over we hope, the first of many cheques. We are really proud of Daryl running his third marathon and hope he will keep on running for The Haven. We were overwhelmed with the generosity we received for our sponsored walk. My fitbit showed we walked over 30,000 steps and due to the hilly nature of the walk, the equivalent of climbing 125 floors. Everyone at Vitacress is keen to continue raising money for The Haven and lots of ideas are being considered for further fundraising events. The charity offers valuable support to families to make a real difference at a very difficult time.”
The Haven team works closely with NHS partners to go beyond medical treatment, to help Visitors (service users) and their families cope with the wider impact of breast cancer through one-to-one personalised, specialist care. The Haven, which uses professional therapists, provides completely free services, incorporating everything from nutritional and financial advice, to counselling, exercise and complementary therapies.
It’s fourth centre in Titchfield, Hampshire began refurbishment in January 2015. This centre will cover the whole of the Wessex region. To cover purchasing, refurbishing, and converting the building into a Haven, as well as providing initial running costs for the first two years, the total projected cost for the Hampshire Haven is £2.5m. Money has already been raised towards this total through a series of events, challenges, grants from trusts and foundations, and major donations.
The Hampshire Haven’s official opening date is scheduled for October 2015. To learn more about The Haven, please visit www.thehaven.org.uk.
