UK: Greggs reports strong H2

Leading UK food-to-go retailer, Greggs has issued a trading update for the 24 weeks to 13 December revealing like-for-like sales up 5.2% within its company-owned store estate. This improving performance has boosted like-for-likes in the year to date to +4.2%, compared with -1.1% in 2013.

As well as enjoying the benefits of more helpful weather this year, Greggs has continued to invest in improving in store formats, product offer and service. Service enhancements have included longer opening hours morning and afternoon, as well as a focus on increasing availability of its fresh prepared lines both on weekdays and Sunday. The company has also significantly ramped up store refits across its 1,700-strong portfolio, rolling out new facilities such as seating areas to create a better customer experience.
