Poland: Intermarché to donate 30 tonnes of apples to 100 schools

On 7 October, the retailer chain Intermarché decided to redirect the shipment that had been intended to reach educational institutions in the Russian Kaliningrad region. The fruit will eventually be transferred to more than one hundred Polish schools.

"In the absence of a response from the Russian Embassy on the request for permission to make a shipment of apples to the Kaliningrad area, we decided to redirect this fruit, purchased from domestic growers, to students from more than a hundred schools across Poland. This is our contribution to the promotion of Polish fruit and healthy eating," said Patrick Renault, CEO of Intermarché in Poland.

Schools selected by Intermarché supermarkets and franchises will receive more than 30 tonnes of fruit.
