San Jacinto: Circle K to build first new prototype in Southern California

Circle K Stores has selected San Jacinto for the company’s first new prototype in Southern California.

The groundbreaking for the Circle K/Mobil will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at 1450 S. Sanderson Avenue at the northwest corner of Sanderson and Esplanade avenues.

The combo concept will be on 1.24 acres and consist of a 4,500-square-foot convenience store offering fresh food, a Mobil gas station with eight fuel pumps, and a self-serve state-of-the-art car wash. The food and gas hybrid is expected to open later this year.

The new Circle K building will be the first phase of Esplanade Commons, a 90,000-square-foot mixed-use shopping centre development planned by Southland Development Company of San Juan Capistrano and RoBott Land Company of Beverly Hills.

John Guell, president and founder of Southland, said the company is talking to other retailers to join Circle K/Mobil at the shopping centre.

San Jacinto City Manager Tim Hults said in a prepared statement that he and residents are pleased that Circle K chose San Jacinto to debut its new flagship, the first in Southern California. What’s more, Circle K/Mobil will be the first convenience store and gas station on the city’s west side, he noted.

Why San Jacinto? Hults praised easy access to major transportation corridors and the city’s pro-business environment as an ideal environment for starting, expanding or relocating a business.
