VDC Logistics takes over Gist's activities in Scandinavia
Starting Monday, 5 May, Gist's activities in Scandinavia will be taken over by VDC Logistics, a subsidiary of the Van Dongen Holding Company. This week, an agreement was reached on the transfer of the customer base, the staff and the fleet. "The controlled atmosphere transport of fresh produce, flowers, plants and other refrigerated products towards Scandinavia did not fit into Gist's portfolio anymore and is a welcome addition to the existing activities of VDC Logistics," says Jan van Dongen.
VDC Logistics is specialised in the transport of fruit and vegetables from and to France, Spain, Portugal and the Scandinavian countries. Products imported from southern countries are combined in Maasdijk with the overseas products from the port of Rotterdam stored by Fruit Forwarders (also part of the VDH Company) and transported to consumers in Scandinavia.
Through this acquisition, VDC Logistics strengthens its position in the Scandinavian market, where it is already capable to provide an optimal service to its customers in conjunction with its sister companies, including the storage and handling of fruit and vegetables, the preparation of customs and clearance documents, and the forwarding of overseas containers with fruit, vegetables, flowers and plants.
