week 17: more interest in Europe product due to price

Germany: supply of overseas apples increases

Although the European parties still had the upper hand, the import of overseas apples clearly increased on the German wholesale markets in week 17 (BLE). There was especially a lot of overseas Royal Gala present. This variety came from Argentine, New Zealand and Chile. There was also sufficient supply of New Zealand Cox Orange, South African Golden Delicious and Chilean Granny Smith. In the European section the countries Italy and Germany had the upper hand with Golden Delicious, Granny Smith and Braeburn, Elstar and Jonagold. France followed with Granny Smith, Pink lady and the Netherlands added to the assortment with Boskoop and Elstar. The interest in European product was larger as it had better prices than those from overseas.
