Roscoff-The eleventh edition of the Onion Festival of Roscoff will be held at two locations on 24 and August 25. During the whole weekend, various activities are held: including an Onion Market, a demonstration of onion braids, a display of old tractors and old tools, cider and bread making and other street events.
The onions for the annual festival are supplied as bulk or braided, both organic and traditionally grown. It is also possible to taste bread with stewed onions, onion pie, bread stuffed with onion and of course the inevitable onion soup.
Program
From 10:00 to 18:30
- Information stands of the Roscoff onion cooperative will provide info on onion cultivation, production conditions, geographical area of production, the AOC quality label.
- Both indoor and outdoor dining facilities on Friday from 18:30, village des Johnnies;
- Menus "Onions Specialty" of local chefs throughout the weekend.
Saturday, August 24
Events around the dining options at Village des Johnnies, from 10.00 to 18.30;
Vegetable Carousel, water bar, culinary workshops for modern snacks;
Introduction to Breton dancing;
Concerts in Village Johnnies;
19:00 to 20:30, old sailor songs;
20:30 to 21:45 Sligan, Celtic music;
22:00 to 23:30 Transpher, festive Celtic rock.
In the fishing village on the old harbour from 14.00 to 19.00: acquainted with various techniques around fish, along with scientific partners;
10.30 to 11.30: selling crabs on the Quays of the Old Port for the foundation Fee du Coeur;
15.00 to 17.00: Visit to fishing boats;
Catering on location (mussels, salmon) - price € 12, € 5 children;
From 20.00: ball in the village Tad Coz by Podium Animation.
Sunday, August 25
- 10:00 Balade à vélo: family event with options to explore the area. Trail for all ages.
Departure and arrival in Village des Johnnies.
- 11:00 pm: Parade with wind music of Cuivres du Haut Leon and Kevrenn Kastell;
Introducing the new members of the onion guild Confrérie de l'Oignon;
- 14:30 pm: Festivities;
- 14.00 - 18.30: workshops; makeup and balloons.
- 15.00: Spectacle of the water carrier;
- 16.00: Bagad de Landivisiau: parade from the Hôtel de Ville to Village des Johnnies;
