Great start for Creston Valley Lapins
The "Cool Chain"
One of the most vital parts of properly packing cherries is the art of proper cooling. Without rapid cooling, the cherry's shelf life is considerably reduced. Ideally, once the cherries have been picked they should be cooled to 7 degrees C, before entering the sorting area. Once the sorting of the fruit begins, the cherries are cooled down to 0-2 degrees C by being immersed or sprayed by water between 1-2 degrees C. Global Fruit prides itself in packing with precise facilities that have a secure cool chain. From harvest to the shelf, the temperature of the cherries drops and is maintained at zero degrees Celsius.
Flying Fresh Air Freight
Global Fruit congratulates Flying Fresh Air Freight (FFAF) on the completion of their cold storage at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Flying Fresh partners with Global Fruit to transport BC Cherries all around the globe by air and ocean. To further their commitment to their customers, FFAF opened a new 5000 sq. foot cooler on July 7. This new cooler doubles the capacity of their old ones and brings state of the art technology to the "cool chain" that is so important for our cherries. The new facilities are on airport and are also wired to Ocean container handling.
