Italian ready-to-eat salads speak Cyrillic

"To Russia with love from "La Linea Verde – DimmidiSì"

La Linea Verde is a leading Italian group working in the ready-to-eat vegetable and fresh ready meal sectors, sold under the DimmidiSì brand along with the labels of the main European retailers. The company has over 1,000 employees, six production sites (4 in Italy, 1 in Spain and 1 in Austria) and its turnover reached €185 million in 2012.

After making a few important investments abroad – in Spain in 2008 and in Austria in 2012 – La Linea Verde has officially entered the Russian market. The company is working in partnership with Vegetoria, a local producer and importer based between Moscow and St. Petersburg and, therefore, with 20 million potential consumers.

In 2014, La Linea Verde wants to launch a new facility for the on-site production of ready-to-eat DimmidiSì salads. In fact, the Russian market looks promising: according to reports from the management of La Linea Verde, the packed salad sector exploded in a single year in Moscow, and is now worth between 40 and 50 million Euro.

"The sector is perceived as a status symbol by Muscovites – explains sales manager Massimo Bragotto – and local competition is still low. In addition, we sell a product from Italy which, in the eyes of foreign consumers, definitely adds value."

La Linea Verde therefore decided to let its "made in Italy" salads "speak" Cyrillic, as can be seen in the 125 gr Sinfonia Floreale and the 150 gr Classica Italiana packets.

"Sinfonia Floreale" and "Classica Italiana". All bags destined to the Russian market are in Cyrillic but with references to the Italian flag in addition to the original DimmidiSì brand. Every year, the company produces 160 million salad bags.

Giuseppe Battagliola, chairman of La Linea Verde, adds that, "at the moment, we are exporting ready-to-eat salads and they are enthusiastically welcomed. Russia loves Italy, its landscapes and its flavours. What's more, the Mediterranean diet is well-known and it is fashionable. Our products comply with the current trends."

On top of ready-to-eat salads, the company will also start exporting fresh ready meals like Le Zuppe Fresche (fresh soups). Exports of fresh beverages are also being taken into consideration.

La Linea will be participating at WorldFood Moscow (16-19 September 2013, Moscow’s Expocentre), where the Group intends to meet the purchasing managers of big retailers interested in collaborating. The management will be available during the whole fair in Pav. 2 - Stand D645.
