Italy: Agricoper starts harvesting Sugraone and Victoria table grapes

"We were one of the first companies who bought licences for the new varieties of seedless grapes from the most important international breeders, therefore we now have a wide supply thanks to which we can cover the period from early July to mid December."

This is what Nuco Liturri, marketing and communication manager for Agricoper, a company he runs together with brothers Vito and Giuseppe, says. The firm, located in Noicattaro (Bari - Puglia) has been producing and selling table grapes for three generations.

"We have around 300 hectares available, half of which are ours and are located in the South-East of the Bari province and along the Ionic coast. We grow all the traditional grape varieties - white, black and red - as well as new seedless cultivars with a total annual production of around 10,000 tons."

The company has a processing warehouse equipped with refrigerated units (with a 300 ton capacity) to pre-cool and store products coming from vineyards and packaging lines that prepare the produce for exports. "We only ship our grapes from the Alps upwards i.e. to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, England, Scandinavia, Romania and even Russia. Our sales channels are retailers and markets."

"The experience we gained in the past few years as suppliers of big retailing chains all over Europe means we can now satisfy various logistics and packaging needs as we have different types of wooden crates, Ifco, Steco, cardboard boxes and punnets."

"As of 10th June 2013, we will start harvesting and processing Sugraone and Victoria grapes. May was a very positive month for blossoming and now the produce looks good and has good organoleptic qualities," concludes Nico Liturri.

Agricoper has the ISO 9000/2000 certification awarded by the prestigious Scandinavian firm DNV (Det Norske Veritas) as well as the GlobalGap certification.
