Peru: Camposol will increase its exports of mandarin this year

The company Camposol agribusiness will export 1,400 tons of W. Murcott mandarin this campaign, as noted its business manager, José Antonio Gómez Bazan.

"The campaign began last week (week 26) and throughout the four weeks that it lasts, we will export 70 containers and each container stores 20 tons of the fruit," he said.

He indicated that Camposol has 100 hectares of the W. Murcott variety, which is in initial stage (it's its second season), so the average yield is 14 tons per hectare, but it is estimated that it will reach 40 tons per hectare in its mature stage.

In that regard, he said that they are studying the possibility of growing other mandarin varieties in 2014, so they are having meeting with different seed suppliers.

Moreover, he said that this season's shipments would be sent to Canada, Netherlands, Germany, France, England, Hong Kong and China. He also said that each market has different prices but that they range between US$ 1.50 and US$1.80 a kilo.

He also said that there had not been any phytosanitary problems in the current campaign hence the fruit has good colour and good acidity.
