Total Worldfresh appoints Ethical and Sustainability Director

Total Berry’s Technical Director Rupert Carter moved in to the newly created role of Ethical and Sustainability Director for Total Worldfresh Ltd in April.

The appointment aims to reinforce the businesses commitment to sustainability and welfare practices both internally and externally with its grower base, customers and clients.

Initially, Carter will be responsible for the implementation of an ethical strategy across Worldfresh’s company portfolio that includes Total Berry, Total Cherry, Total Fruit and Total Exotics.

Its primary focus is aimed at improving the environmental footprint across the entire supply chain by targeting areas such as waste and water reduction

Carter has already begun working on overseas ethical projects and will look to engage other countries and stakeholders in the coming months.

Using industry recognized initiatives and frameworks, he will oversee that actions and improvements are delivering against the ethical base code and social charters

Carter said, ‘I am excited to begin working on this. The role has great scope to develop, drive and deliver a group strategy through improvement techniques and facilitation. It is hoped this will result in substantial and demonstrable environmental and ethical efficiencies whilst benefiting the cost reduction process.’
