TADECO gets PhilGAP second year in a row
It was joined this year by its sister company, the Anflo Banana Corporation.
TADECO and Anflo Banana Corporation are the only producers and exporters of Cavendish banana to have been able to successfully secure the PhilGAP certification. Both companies operate under the Anflocor Group of Companies, which has business ventures mainly in agriculture and logistics.
PhilGAP is primarily designed to reassure consumers about how food is produced on the farm by assuring food safety, minimizing detrimental environmental impacts of farming operations and ensuring a responsible approach to workers’ health, safety, welfare and hygiene.
The GAP Certification assessors from the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Product Standards of the Department of Agriculture regularly visit Anflo Banana Corporation and TADECO for purposes of monitoring, inspection and validation. The assessors evaluate standards of quality in the processing of Cavendish bananas in the farms. Packing houses, storerooms, warehouses and field operations are assessed including the records, workers’ safety, and hygiene and sanitation practices.
TADECO and Anflo Banana Corporation were found to have met the high standards of the Department of Agriculture’s Code of Good Agricultural Practices.
