AU: Woolworths considers international expansion
The retailer, which has posted a 5.6 per cent spike in quarterly food and liquor sales, says it is considering international expansion.
But Woolworths chief Grant O'Brien is yet to declare where the company may expand and says it is still some way from forging offshore.
"We've carefully been looking at international expansion as an option but there's not anything imminent at this particular point in time," Mr O'Brien said. "We continue to look but haven't been, and won't be, specific about where we're looking."
Mr O'Brien would not be drawn on whether Asia was a prime target, saying only that Woolworths had an office in the region and had been sourcing supplies from the continent for six years.
