It is rather quiet at the moment in the carrot trade. "This is all part of the weather," Arlette Cool tells. "Here in Brussels it was quiet all last week. Also the export is quiet. In our trade every year we have to wait and see what will happen."
"At the moment some carrots are going to Russia. There is no demand from other countries now, they probably have sufficient carrots themselves. Everything depends on the demand and supply. Luckily prices are on a normal level. This is, of course, necessary as we have storage and rental expenses of the cooling arrangements," she concludes.
The family company (Paul Cool bvba) has specialised in the cultivation, processing and distribution of carrots and onions. We regard it of great importance to supply quality to our clients and therefore annually invest in people, machines, transport and processing."
