UK: Heritage Madison joins Costcutter
Entrepreneurs Raj Athwal and Ravi Shetra purchased the former Nisa and Londis stores, which range from 800 to 2,500 square feet and stretch from Bristol across Somerset and Devon, including large sites in Bridgewater and Barnstaple. The group said it is already in the process of identifying additional sites as it seeks to expand by five stores per year.
Raj Athwal said: “These stores present a fantastic opportunity to create excellent convenience stores across the South West and with the right symbol partner we hope to build a very profitable portfolio. The experience, flexibility and dedication it gives retailers is the reason we chose to join Costcutter.
“Our partnership with Costcutter delivers on price and is also supported with a strong promotional package which we believe gives us the edge over our competitors. The Costcutter brand is very strong and gives us and our customers a lot of confidence. It puts us in a strong position from which we can expand our business, creating a much bigger group over the next few years.”
Jamie Davison, Costcutter’s UK Sales & Development Director (South), commented: “I am delighted that Heritage Madison has chosen to bring its stores into Costcutter. In today’s economic climate it is more important than ever for independent retailers to join the right symbol group and Raj and Ravi recognise the range of added benefits the Costcutter brand has and the advantages it will bring to their stores. Working in partnership with Raj and Ravi they will benefit from our leading in-store and support services which give them the control they need to realise their ambitions for the group.”
