Russia: Mushroom project commences

An industrial complex has commenced cultivation of mushrooms in the village of Lunga in Ardatovsk district of Mordovia. The first harvest is anticipated at the end of this month.

Five cameras, four of which are already in use, have been adapted for the cultivation of at the plant. According to the company's management plans, the annual volume of mushrooms can be expected to reach 15 tons. But in the spring of this year the plan is to increase production capacity up to 40 tons.

The sale of mushrooms at a price of 80-90 rubles ($2.64 -$2.97US) per kilogram will take place not only in the Republic of Mordovia, but also in the Samara and Penza regions, as well as in the Chuvash Republic.
