Better3Fruit wins world wide interest for exclusive apple varieties

"Everyone should define themselves and we can guarantee exclusivity over our varieties. Better3Fruit is looking for solutions for everyone in the chain: tree grower, grower, trader/packer, retailer and consumer. These solutions are very good storing properties, high productivity, easy colouring and disease resistance. Every year we make 10,000 new varieties through pollination and then look for the perfect apple for our partners. Then we protect it through growers rights to be able to guarantee exclusivity. We select characteristics in our orchards that our customers want. This could be anyone in the chain, from tree growers up to and including retailers. We invite everyone to contact us and tell us about their wishes. We will then look for the perfect match."

"Better3Fruit works with a worldwide testing network which means we can test, show and promote our varieties independent from other parties. At the moment Nicoter (Kanzi®) and Nicogreen (Greenstar®) are Better3Fruit's varieties that perform best commercially. Meanwhile, we're working on their successors. We hope to find new partners this year and to select a suitable variety for them." Nicolas indicates that every apple producing country is important for Better3Fruit. "We develop the new varieties in Belgium but test and evaluate them all over the world. In Chile, Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia we have tests running among interested parties and we hope to offer these production areas a variety made to size."
