Rewe sold mouldy strawberries

An unsavoury find in the supermarket: testers of the German TV show "Markt" discovered mouldy strawberries in German Rewe supermarkets. A food laboratory evaluated the fruits as inedible. So they shouldn't have been sold.

The mouldy strawberries were sold in stores in Schleswig-Holstein, reported the TV program last Sunday. The company has admitted that in July in Hamburg mouldy strawberries were also on sale. Rewe was not available for comment last Sunday.

In the early summer strawberries were removed from Rewe supermarkets because of their poor quality during a quality check by the editors of 'Market'. The randomly purchased fruits were once again in poor condition. According to TV station NDR Rewe has offered to take back the goods and give customers their money back, but customers can also exchange them for fresh strawberries.
