Tengelmann: 145 years of success

The German company group Tengelmann, which has been in existence for 145 years, may look back at a successful book year, as announced on the German website Gabot.de. In 2011 the group of companies, consisting of Kaiser's Tengelmann, KiK, OBI, Tengelmann E-Commerce and many smaller organisations, obtained a turnover of 10,78 billion Euro (+2,4% compared to 2010), 32% of this turnover was achieved abroad in Europe. The company group is represented in Germany and in 14 other European countries with total of 83,437 employees and
4,256 branches.
 
Kaiser's Tengelmann
With 17.882 employees and 513 branches Kaiser's Tengelmann GmbH achieved a gross turnover of 2,16 billion Euro during the last book year, a decrease compared
to 2010.
 
KiK
The textile discounter KiK achieved with 20,714 employees and in total 3,164 branches (of which 2,591 in Germany and 573 branches in six other European countries) a turnover of 1,69 billion Euro. KiK with that still belongs to the most successful textile trading companies.
 
OBI
For the do-it-yourself chain OBI a good price-quality relationship, quality requirements, knowledgeable personnel are in the first place. This strategy is appreciated by the clients and in this way the company could increase its position
as market leader. OBI obtained with 579 branches in Europe and 43,113 employees a turnover of 6,67 billion Euro. That is 4,4% more than in 2010.
