world. "Demand is strong and we have already supplied machines to Germany, France, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Australia. We are also active in other countries. We expect that the demand from abroad will shortly be bigger than the local demand," Jan Molenaar of Tastymatic says. Last year in September the company introduced the automatic pineapple cutter during AGF-Detail, a Dutch trade fair. "The machine is completely automatic for consumption readying of fresh pineapple slices. Use is easy for the consumer and a nice attraction for the public. The client will receive a freshly cut pineapple within 30 seconds."
"The most important customers at the moment are supermarkets and vegetable retailers. We also established various cooperative associations with machinery suppliers and importers of pineapples. Parts for the machines are also distributed through them. For the little buckets we work together with packing supplier Bunzi."
"The demand from abroad increased after we attended Fruit Logistica in Berlin.
During the coming years we expect to attend more fairs abroad and in this way to enlarge our selling area abroad. At the moment we still sell more locally, but I think that there will be a change quickly because the demand from abroad is stronger in general."
"Our clients are mainly convinced as a result of the fact that the machines cause a considerable increase in the turnover of pineapple," Jan emphasises. "We hear about big sales increases for instance from 3 pineapples to 70 pineapples per day. With increases like that the machine will earn its cost price within a year. In addition to more turnover because of the Pine-O-Matic the clients are also happy because of the 'fun' of having the machine in their shop and the positive reactions received from their clients."
