Finland: Valoya releases new growth spectrum LED lights

A leading LED light company - Valoya Ltd - introduces its new growth spectrum optimized especially for the growth of leafy greens. The benefits over traditional luminaires include better growth, increased biomass and enhanced visual appearance.

Valoya's LED spectrums have been proven to suit several plants better than light from traditional luminaires. This is the case also with the new AP673 growth spectrum that presents numerous benefits compared to traditional fluorescent tubes or high pressure sodium lights. The new AP673 growth spectrum is based on extensive research that Valoya has conducted in co-operation with research institutes and leading growers of lettuce and herbs. As a result, the new light has improved the features of Valoya's existing light spectrum, and is optimized for leafy greens such as various lettuce, herbs, cresses and pea shoots.

By using the AP673 light spectrum the plant gets the light energy and information, which focuses it to grow leaf and biomass and to delay flowering. Therefore, the new spectrum drives the plant quickly to a state where it can be harvested with good weight, excellent texture and outstanding visual appearance. The AP673 also accentuates the aroma and taste of the plants, even in no sun-light conditions.

The new AP673 spectrum is available in all of Valoya's product series i.e. the L-, B- and R- series. Valoya's LED grow lights are built in such a way that they do not direct heat towards the plants and therefore, can be installed in close proximity to the plants. Valoya's new AP673 spectrum is suitable for the use in traditional greenhouses, multilayer installations and other no-sunlight environments. For human eyes the appearance of the AP673 is "peachy-colored" and therefore, the light is also suitable for the use in spaces where humans co-exist with healthy growing plants.
