US (NY): Best Yet first to carry BrightFarms lines

It has been announced that Best Yet Market is the first supermarket in the nation to carry BrightFarms local produce.

BrightFarms is planning to change the retail scene by bringing the farmer's market concept into stores. This is a response to growing interest in locally produced foods. It is also recognition of the fact that despite this interest, the vast majority of food still gets transported thousands of miles before being presented to the consumer.

Rebecca Philbert, President & C.E.O. of Best Yet says, "We are excited about this partnership on two fronts. First and foremost, it provides our customers wonderful, locally grown, New York produce for a phenomenal value. Secondly, our company is proud to bring fresh and innovative products to the communities and neighborhoods we serve. This partnership with BrightFarms brings new ideas to the forefront as part of a growing national trend to go local."

According to Paul Lightfoot, CEO of BrightFarms, "This partnership unites two companies with similar priorities. We both want to provide customers with incredible fresh local foods that are grown, delivered and sold with tender loving care. In fact, Andrew will be frequently visiting the Best Yet store to ensure each clamshell of our produce exceeds customer expectations on every level."

Added Mr. Lightfoot, "At BrightFarms, our motto is 'Local Produce. Nationwide.' We mean it – for so many reasons, our health, our environment, and more. This partnership with Best Yet is the model for and beginning of many beautiful relationships – nationwide."
