US: Ahold donates to kids healthy eating program

Working with participating produce suppliers, Ahold USA’s banners raised almost $40,000 for PBS Kids healthy eating educational programming though Produce for Kids’ Eat Smart for a Great Start campaign.

Donations were made to PBS Kids programming when shoppers bought supplier-sponsored produce at Giant Food, Giant Food Stores, Martin’s Food Markets and Stop & Shop locations.

In addition, Produce for Kids, and Ahold banners promoted healthy meal ideas for shoppers to cook at home with their families.

“By working with Produce for Kids, and helping support PBS KIDS’ healthy eating programming, Ahold USA’s retail divisions are able to contribute to the continued healthy eating education of parents and children,” Steve Mayer, senior vice president of fresh for Ahold USA, said.
