"South Africa: Dole donates fruit as part of "social upliftment"

Dole are donating around 52,000 units of their pre-packed food products this month and another 21,000 next month, to various organisation nationwide, as part of their social upliftment programme.

The products include Dole Fruit Cups, Fruit Snacks and Pineapple Juice and are being distributed through the Food Bank in the Western Cape. The Food Bank is an organisation that donates and delivers food to various homes, shelters and non-profit organisations.

The handover of foods commenced on the 17th February at a shelter fro the homeless, unemployed and addicted, known as The Ark. The Ark feeds over 750 people a day and is one of the largest organisations of its kind in the Western Cape.

"The Ark is an inspirational organisation and one that we are proud to support," says Gerald Gant, managing director of Dole South Africa. "Our pre-packaged products contain no artificial flavours, colouring or preservatives, and are a healthy option for these individuals who might struggle with receiving adequate nutrition in their daily lives."
