Agrícola Cactus is a family business which has been run by Luis Sierra M. for more than 40 years and which grows grapes and watermelons, as well as other products.
The company grows a wide range of grape varieties, such as Perlette, Flame, Red Globe and Autumn Royal. They all usually arrive between May and June and its export markets are the United States, the UK and the Far East. Last season, the company produced about 700,000 boxes of grapes in total.
This year, the harvest appears to be smaller than usual, according to Juan Sierra, although he believes that there won't be any problems because their prospects are quite good. Sierra mentions Chile as a potential competitor, as its production of red grapes, such as early Flame or late Crimson, will overlap with the Mexican.

Watermelons will also start on 1 April and continue until June, after which they will harvest again from 15 October until 15 December. It is a long campaign, of five months a year. The watermelons are exported to the United States and a small part of the shipments go also to Japan.
