Kyrgyzstan has launched its first agronomic trials of citrus and olive crops, including mandarins, oranges, olives, and kumquats, in the Batken region. The saplings were imported from Turkey, according to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and the Processing industry.
The goal of the trials is to assess whether these heat-loving plants can adapt to local conditions. Particular attention is being paid to their resistance to climate, soil conditions, and pests.
"If successful, these crops could be recommended for cultivation in southern regions, helping diversify the domestic market and boost the country's export potential," said Bakyt Mambetov, Director of the Department for Crop Expertise and Horticulture.
