The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) has allocated over $700,000 to support the cultivation of apples, pears, and sweet cherries in Chet-Baysoorun village, Issyk-Kul region.
Launched in 2022, the project covers 36.5 hectares where more than 150,000 saplings have been planted. The young trees have already yielded over 100 tonnes of fruit in their first harvest.
"A key feature of the project is the use of modern agricultural technologies. The orchard is equipped with a drip irrigation system, 88 rows, each 735 meters long. Four storage ponds with filtration systems have also been constructed to ensure an uninterrupted water supply. The drip system delivers not only water but also liquid fertilizers and plant protection agents, depending on seasonal and crop needs," noted in RKDF.
The produce is exported to Russia and Kazakhstan.
RKDF Chairman Artem Novikov noted that, in addition to drip irrigation, the company is installing trellis systems that align saplings and allow for a planting density of 4,400 trees per hectare.
