Salix Fruits appoints COO

The world has entered the third wave of COVID-19 and the pandemic continues to challenge not only the health system but also the market and the economy. Salix Fruits, an importer and exporter of fresh fruits, puts operations as a priority given it anticipates obstacles and difficulties via logistics in 2022.

That is why Salix has appointed Juan Gonzalez Pita as chief operating officer (COO). To prioritize the operation and provide the best service to its clients, Salix created and formalized the position of director of operations and placed one of the partners in that role.

Gonzalez Pita founded the company in 2011 and in his previous role as sales director, he managed to grow the team to more than 20 employees, work with more than 80 producers in 18 countries and have more than 400 clients in 57 countries.

“2021 was a demanding year in which we had innumerable logistical difficulties, which we were able to overcome and solve in a very good way,” said Gonzalez Pita. “But we believe this is going to be one of the great challenges of 2022 and that is why we put it at the front of our agenda.”

The new COO, who has a degree in Business Administration from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and an MBA from IAE, is in charge of coordinating the company's operations, from the commercial and operational aspects, including logistics and documentation.

"As part of our projects for the coming year, we aspire to grow and continue to strengthen certain origins that are very important to us such as Spain and Peru,” said Gonzalez Pita.
